The interest of the “Sabadell” town hall for promoting an area of new buildings at the surroundings of the “Masia de Can Rull” brought the people in charge of the project to think that there was place enough to construct a circuit of trains such as that of l’Oreneta, known by one of the responsible persons there.
After several conversations a collaboration agreement was signed the year 1994, with the aim that the “Centre d’Estudis de Modelisme a Vapor” to take care of the project, construction and start up of a layout of man-riding operated trains, providing all the infrastructure, works facilities and movable material.
The inauguration of this circuit was a fully crowded event, as in coincidence with the Main Feast of the district. At the beginning, were the members of our “Centre”, the most of them living in Barcelona, who took care of operating the installation. But after a time, with the increase of number of members living in that area, an autonomic section inside our association was created
The circuit has a length of 3.068 metres with two gauges: 7 ¼” (184mm) and 10” (254mm).. The maximum unevenness is 9,5 metres. The maximum slope is 14 thousandths (milesimes – mm per metre). The minimum curve radius is 20 metres ( 15 metres in the secondary tracks). Two station buildings, one wayside station, five tunnels and one metallic curve viaduct of 60 metrrs length are available
This circuit had available, at the beginning, one steam locomotive 1-3-0 and two Diesel-Hydraulic engines, together with about twenty passenger cars, open and covered, bought at United Kingdom. This material was lately complemented with an electrical engine 7 ¼” gauge battery moved and the corresponding coaches
This material has been enlarged with other units constructed by the members themselves, and this material do share the circuit and installation with that of the “Centre”.
The year 2007 and because this section had reached enough experience, it was offered to them to constitute themselves as an independent association. When this step was ultimate, it was requested to the “Sabadell” town hall to give up our rights upon this circuit to the association “CENTRE DE MODELISME FERROVIARI DE SABADELL (CEMFES)”, who will continue having our collaboration and best disposition for their purposes
